Pinnacles National Park Shirt
Pinnacles National Park in California is famous for its namesake, the towering pinnacle spires that form the skyline. It is known for much more than that.
Having only been designated in 2013, this is one of the nation's newest national parks. Visitors come for the rocky spires, unspoiled wilderness, rock climbing, hiking, and cave exploration; but over all of that splendor it's the California Condor that everyone wants to see.
Pinnacles National Park is a nesting area for the massive bird, one of the largest in North America. It was listed as endangered in the 60's and has been actively sheltered, bred, and released in the park since the 80's and 90's. Today they can be seen soaring up above the high peaks. I doubt anyone would put them on their lists for most adorable birds but they sure warmed our hearts and it's great to see them making a recovery. Here's a vintage T shirt dedicated to them flying over Bear Gulch.
